The
photographer from the U.S. Embassy, Jaries Mansour, came to
Taybeh, Palestine, to visit my mural in progress and
document the work with a video.
The project was nearly complete, but I had to do touch ups,
complete the outlining, and then add Arabic calligraphy.
Still, it was well on its way to completion and I had three
students willing to come to school and paint on a day
off. I was so impressed -- and proud -- of them.
Jaries was actually
from Taybeh. After about five minutes of conversation,
he invited me to his parents' home for lunch. I never
turn down such opportunities. And, Mama Jairies prepared
one of my favorite Palestinian treats, potatoes stuffed with
meat.
The U.S. Office of
Palestinian Affairs finally posted a shorter version of this
video. Fortunately, Jaires posted the longer (and so
much better) version on YouTube.
