Where in the World is Albania?
The double-headed eagle appears on the Albanian flag. And, you fly like the eagles to get to Tirana. Well, most people fly like the eagles to get to Albania. Once, I did enter by land at Shkoder and crossed the entire country to get to Gjirokaster. It was a long day.There is no airport in Gjirokaster. The only way to get there is by bus, mini bus, or taxi. The ride from Tirana takes six or eight hours. (My mind has blocked the exact amount of time.) However, no matter the length of time or the discomfort, arrival in Gjirokaster is so worth it. For me, it is like coming home.
